We are fh2rail from FH Aachen and we design, build and operate our own 10¼-inch-gauge locomotive. For engineering. For competition. And mostly for fun.

Much more than just a locomotive.
fh2rail brings together students from mechanics, electronics, software, automation, design and project management to develop one complete railway system.
Carla is our student-developed locomotive for the IMechE Railway Challenge.
Every component has to work as part of one system: drivetrain, brakes, control electronics, embedded software, safety systems and the mechanical structure.
The result is practical engineering under real constraints, built and operated by students.
