Carla left the competition environment for a weekend and joined the Bahnhofsfest in Raeren, where visitors could experience student railway engineering up close.
On 13 and 14 June 2026, Carla took part in the Bahnhofsfest organised by Eisenbahnfreunde Grenzland in Raeren.
The event gave us the opportunity to present our locomotive outside the usual Railway Challenge environment. Railway Challenge locomotives from FH Aachen and RWTH Aachen formed part of the programme and gave visitors an insight into the engineering behind the student projects.
For fh2rail, events like this are an important opportunity to show what happens behind the scenes of the project.
Carla is not simply a competition vehicle. She combines mechanical engineering, electronics, embedded systems, automation, software and safety technology in one complete railway vehicle.
Visitors were able to see Carla on the track and talk with members of the team about the locomotive and its development.
After two international competition weekends and months of preparation in the workshop, the Bahnhofsfest offered a different way to share the project with railway enthusiasts and the public.
